5 tips to creating daily rituals:
What are rituals?
Rituals to me are about making conscious and intentional actions regularly.
It can be as simple as having a warm lemon drink in the morning to kick start your day, or reading a daily uplift quote for positive encouragement My personal favourite is my cuppa tea ritual which usually consists of homemade Chai mid morning and chamomile in the evenings. Even using a specific mug maybe a gift that was given to you like mine was or you like the decoration on it. Carving out a short space of time to be in the moment and nourish yourself has benefits and can help you to re-centre yourself and continue on with your day.
How rituals can improve your wellbeing:
Creating rituals can improve your wellbeing by having something you enjoy to look forward to on a regular basis. It can be something you do with another person as well which is good for social connection also another wellbeing benefit.
5 top tips:
1. Get up around the same time each day and allow sunlight to come into your room so your body naturally wakes up (circadian rhythm). If you happen to be a deep sleeper set your alarm at the same time everyday. Instead of reaching for technology maybe grab an inspirational quote.
2. Move your body in some way yoga, stretches or a walk even if it's only for 15mins if possible.
3. Set daily intentions ritual this could include journalling or writing down inspirations or ideas that may arise in the mornings (our most creative brain time)
4. Calming the mind, sit in your garden/outside if possible with a cuppa looking towards the sunlight for a minute or 2. for grounding. Have a daily ritual every day that allows you to re-centre and re-group.
5. Evening ritual – camomile tea, dim lights, create a room sanctuary, daily reflection, having a shower or salt bath before bed helps to wash away any worries from the day and to relax into a good nights sleep.
Take 5 mins to think about how you can create your own daily rituals to bring calmness and ease to make you feel good on a regular/daily basis.
